CCAR Introduces New S/P2 Module for "Compressed Natural Gas Vehicles"
The Coordinating Committee for Automotive Repair (CCAR) has expanded its "S/P2" e-learning to include a Safety Course module on "Compressed Natural Gas Vehicles." The module will provide service technicians information on regulations and safety procedures when repairing or servicing vehicles powered by Natural Gas (NGV) or Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
"With the growing population of vehicles incorporating new technologies, such as CNG and alternative fuels, we want S/P2 courses to address environmental and safety issues that our subscribers will see in their shops," said Robert G. Stewart, CCAR Executive Vice President.
The module - available at no additional cost to users of three versions of the S/P2 "Safety" course: S/P2 for Mechanical Service, S/P2 for Collision Repair, and S/P2 for Heavy-Duty Fleets - covers Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations relating to NGV and CNG vehicles.
CCAR provides online training at AAA exclusive pricing for Safety and Pollution Prevention (S/P2) and Hazardous Materials Shipping for Auto Dealers (HazmatU).
S/P2
Easy to use and affordable, S/P2 training is available to professionals in automotive service mechanical and collision repair. Online S/P2 courses helps them meet Federal EPA and OSHA regulations which requires training in environmental and safety concerns before entering the workplace and on an annual basis thereafter. Consisting of three individual categories - safety, pollution prevention, and supervisory - S/P2 is available to all service providers for one low annual fee and training is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to all employees. S/P2 training strengthens opportunities for employee recruitment and retention through the care and concern demonstrated by the facility to ensure staff proficiency and knowledge in the area of safety and learning how to prevent pollution. In addition to special pricing on S/P2, CCAR will provide ongoing telephone support to AAR shops with specific questions regarding usage of the training, workplace safety, waste stream management, and HazmatU shipping issues. A monthly e-newsletter from CCAR will also be sent to AAA affiliated shops participating in the program.
HAZMAT U
For AAA/CAA affiliated dealers, HazmatU training offers the opportunity to stay informed and up-to-date on complex and ever increasing federal regulations on shipping. HazmatU was created by CCAR in cooperation with the North American Automotive Hazmat Action Committee (NAAHAC) for individuals working in the automotive industry to gain a clear and accurate understanding of complex HazMat shipping regulations. Hazardous materials can be costly with a maximum civil penalty assessed of $50,000. Help the dealers in your network avoid costly violations and assist them in providing a safer and healthier work environment by offering HazmatU. Individuals receive a certificate of completion upon satisfactory completion of the course of instruction and scoring at least 80% on the comprehensive exam at the end of the course. Also available for one low annual subscription rate, HazmatU is available to every dealership employee.
